A central forum for dialogue and cross-sector collaboration, this is a space to think critically, act boldly, and lead responsibly.

At a time of rapid change across the entire performing arts landscape, the conversations here influence programming, funding strategies, and the field’s collective future.

This August, join us for three days of interactive sessions, peer exchange, and industry-specific commerce.

Set against the dynamism of Chicago, Chamber Music America’s National Conference unfolds in one of the nation’s great cultural capitals. Take full advantage of its offerings—the city’s rich history and expansive artistic range will be on full display.

This is your chance to invigorate your practice, rekindle your artistic joy, and take part in the essential gathering for chamber music. You won't just attend sessions. You’ll help shape what’s next.

A longstanding tradition in jazz, mentorship continues to transform how artists create successful and sustainable careers to then become the next generation of mentors and innovators. For women- and gender minority-led ensembles especially, as well as other groups who lack access to resources, mentorship opportunities are crucial for career development as they break systemic and geographic barriers. Hear from artists and their mentors about the experiences of learning together and how this work can meaningfully break silos, spark innovation, and create new paths for the future of jazz.

This session explores the technology shaping modern jazz performances, from high‑quality audio and video broadcasting to new tools like effects processors and loop pedals that enable musicians to build layered, improvised compositions onstage in realtime. We'll also examine new strides in virtual reality, tools that create collaborative virtual spaces despite a physical distance. At the core, this session examines how jazz artists can manage evolving technologies while also keeping the human element present.

The Newberry Consort has been presenting historically-informed chamber music in Chicago for 40 years, yet historical trombonist and scholar Liza Malamut—who recently took the organization's reins—has ushered in a new era of engaging programs at the forefront of contemporary trends in early music. In this session, Early Music America executive director David McCormick chats with Malamut and other panelists about drawing new audiences to ancient music through multi-disciplinary programming, new music written for old instruments, and explorations of early American music.
